Mahalo For Your Support!

Mahalo to everyone that came down to the DFS Galleria and supported our "I Love Ukulele/Jake Day." Thanks to Legacy, Ukulele Hale, and Mililani Elementary School for their amazing performances as well as Bruce Shimabukuro and PuaPua for the Ukulele lessons. Special thanks to DFS Galleria and their staff, June Higa and Noriko Harimoto. We can't wait to celebrate again!

Moanalua Elementary School

After jetting back from France, Jake Shimabukuro couldn’t wait to visit the students of Moanalua Elementary School, in the heart of Honolulu, Hawaii. The sea of 600 keiki “Surfriders” rolled in the elementary school cafeteria and quickly formed rows on the floor, like waves postured to be taken for a ride! Energetic 1st through 6th graders eagerly awaited the sound of the ukulele played through the skillful hands of Jake.

I LOVE UKULELE/JAKE DAY

We welcome everyone to join us at DFS Galleria Waikiki on August 4th for I LOVE UKULELE Day, featuring a special performance by Jake Shimabukuro.

DFS has partnered with Music Is Good Medicine to put together this FREE music event to celebreate Hawaii's love of this wonderful instrument.

Throughout the day, local ukulele schools and groups, many with close ties to Jake and MIGM will perform on stage. Among the acts will be music group Legacy, comprised of Jake's past high school teachers from Kaimuki HS and students from Ukulele Hale and Mililani Elementary School.

Jake will take the DFS Galleria stage at 7pm to perform songs from his upcoming album and will be available for autographs after the concert on the Duty Free 3F.

In addition to the great music, there will be fun workshops for keiki's and adults. There will be a children's Jewelry Making Workshop using recycled ukulele strings that Jake actually used during his performances on stage. Bruce Shimabukuro will be offering free ukulele lessons for both beginners and advanced players. Sign-up for these workshops will begin at 11am on August 4th, in front of the DFS Galleria stage area.

Dear Friends of the MIGM Ukulele Project

Thank you so much for supporting Music Is Good Medicine and our MIGM Ukulele.  We regret to inform you that the MIGM Ukulele, manufactured by Takamine Guitars, will be released ONLY in Japan for the time being due to complications in overseas shipping.

We apologize for the sudden change in plans and humbly appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this unfortunate matter.  We will keep this site posted with new information as we find out more details.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Toastman, Inc. (Jake Shimabukuro Office)
